MEG students tabling for No Waste for 30 Days

The average person in Germany generates over 600 kilograms of waste in a year. MEG students are leading the charge to change that.

Inspired by Plastic Free July, an international movement to reduce plastic consumption, Emily Gerger, Marcus Agthe, and Machteld Catharina (MEG-13) endeavored to find their own way to encourage and support people in reducing their waste while creating a community within Freiburg. The result: No Waste For 30 Days.

In addition to holding themselves accountable for their own plastic consumption, the project represented an opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge from MEG into a practical project, all while developing professional skills. The project will focus on plastics this year, but hopes to expand to include food waste or other topics related to lifestyle and consumption in the future.

Those interested in participating are told to get curious-- think critically about the waste you produce and begin looking for alternatives! The project will also share tips and suggestions via a daily newsletter.

If you're interested in learning more, stop by the information session in front of Herderbau this Thursday (21.06) at 13:00. And be sure to sign up for the No Waste For 30 Days challenge here!
