Following on from the success of MEG alumni at last year's competition, Fafali Roy Ziga-Abortta (MEG 13) claimed the top spot at this year's 'Three Minute Thesis' (3MT) competition; organised by the Graduate School of Environment, Society and Global Change (ESGC).

3MT provides doctoral students with the opportunity to give a compelling and informative talk on their research, but the twist?... They have just three minutes to present their work.

This highly prestigious competition takes place in front of a lay audience and an adjudicating panel, who award prizes for the most entertaining and easily understandable talks.

Fafali successfully presented his research on the topic of: 'Solutions in a flood of networks, not disasters'.

The competition tests doctoral students both on the quality of their research and their ability to concisely and powerfully articulate the highly complex issues which they are investigating.

This year's competition was held in an online format and Fafali took this additional challenge in his stride. His efforts were rewarded when the panel of judges selected his talk for the top prize at the competition.

This prize is a testament to Fafali's abilities and all involved with the MEG programme are delighted to hear of his achievement.
