MEG Mingle 2019
The idea for a MEG Mingle began with the MEG11s, who saw it as a chance for their group to build a network with the new students of the MEG12 cohort. The student-organized event was an instant success and has since been inherited by subsequent generations, with the 12’s organizing for the 13’s, the 13’s for the 14’s and most recently by an inter-generational collection of MEG students for the newest MEG15 group.
The newfound tradition is meant to build relationships between the “seasoned” 2nd-year students and the newer batch. However it goes beyond a simple networking social. The MEG Mingle event offers an opportunity for new relationships to be formed, which also encourages collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and communication both during and after the MEG program.
Speaking from my own experience, it was at this event that I met new friends from the previous (and following) cohorts, who have been indispensable parts of my MEG experience and time in Freiburg.
Since I gained so much from the event, this year I decided to undertake it's organization for others to have that same chance.
It is my hope that this aspiring tradition continues to weave the MEG network tightly as students venture into their professional lives as change-agents for a sustainable future.
