Encountering the roar of regionality

In the module Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship, the students encountered a choir of regional voices around Freiburg. On their one-day field trip, the students set out to meet stakeholders of the RegionalWert A.G., a regional initiative, which is a social enterprise as well as a citizen shareholder society. In this organisation, passionate actors are ensuring the production and processing of local foods with a conscientious mindset that strives to generate ecological and social value.

The links between citizen, investors and sustainable enterprises were unfolded in the meeting with the organic farmer Jannis Zentler from the market garden Querbeet and Maren Huth from the catering enterprise Zwergenküche.

The trip was organized and coordinated by Peter Volz, a former MEG student, who is now a member of the nonprofit research association The Agronauts. This Freiburg based association works with sustainable food systems and regional economics to advance an alternative to the current economic paradigm.
