Synthesising principles of ecosystem management
Building on past ecosystem management experiences in the field, the students reconvened in Herderbau. In the new group constellations, the students exchanged the lessons learned, ideas and reflections to generalise the impressions from the empirical observations. This exchange interlinked real-life management with the theoretical principles structured by the 12 principles.

Simone, José and Margaux presenting principle number five stating: "Conservation of ecosystem structure and functioning, in order to maintain ecosystem services, should be a priority target of the ecosystem approach." (CBD) Photo: Sofie Hovmand
Dylan and Connor presenting principle number seven stating "The ecosystem approach should be undertaken at the appropriate spatial and temporal scales." (CBD) Photo: Sofie Hovmand
Altogether the presentations catalysed a symphony of more or less harmonising principles, set the tones for the final report writing and rounded off the module Ecosystem Management.
